In today's financial climate we are all having face some tough challenges, naturally when people are looking for a counsellor cost becomes a major factor.
In general terms counsellors do try and keep their costs down, particularly in comparison to other equally qualified professionals. Likewise I do try and keep my costs down to be able to keep my fees down. I feel my fees reflect what I believe is a fair compensation based upon my education, professional standing and expertise and the quality of counselling I offer.

When choosing your counsellor consider:
When you look around and compare different counsellors remember to ensure that the counsellor is professionally qualified with a reputable professional counselling body (such as
BACP or
UKCP). This ensures that your counsellor will have been trained to a high standard, is insured, complies with an ethical framework and is receiving regular contracted supervision of their practice. In other words, make sure your counsellor is a professional not a gifted amateur.
Make sure they offer you an initial session, sometimes called an assessment; use this session to ensure you are comfortable with the counsellor. It is really important that you feel comfortable with them as the relationship you develop in counselling is often more important than the specific approach to counselling that the counsellor is trained in.
